To Whom It May Concern:
Re: Sports Development
An appeal is made to help provide financial support for the above trust which has an ongoing obligation to providing opportunities and support for disadvantaged youth in our community. This project was conceived some time ago when it became clear that the membership of the Club should extend to disadvantaged communities an opportunity to develop. It was decided that the most appropriate way of achieving this was through the development of sports-minded youth. The registration of the Trust was registered.
The Trust fund was officially launched at a function at this Club by the Mayor of Richards Bay at the time and we were also honoured to have Mr Martin Pinto and Mr Sipho Dlomo as guest speakers, from the national body. At this function the Nkwazi Tournament committee of the Club made a donation of R2 500 to the Trust.
Philosophy
To give disadvantaged youth the opportunity to use and enjoy the Club’s sporting facilities while offering the opportunity for the candidates to integrate into the Club life and the community as a person of standing.
Suitable candidates
The Club invites application from suitable candidates who show an interest and have a basic understanding of the nature of the sport to be played. Only disadvantaged candidates will be considered. The trustees reserve the right to select those applicants considered to be able to best benefit from the project.
Sports Development Trust
To make available to the candidates:
- The Club’s sporting facilities (golf, tennis, squash)
- The Club’s social facilities
- Coaching in their chosen sport
- The necessary sporting apparatus and clothing
- Care and guidance by appointed mentors
- Competitive sporting events
- Interaction with sports people at other venues
- Sporting tours

Future of the Project
· To remain flexible and identify any issues necessitating amendment
· To maintain a progress report on each candidate
· To open a data base and provide statistics which will be available for scrutiny by any interested party
· To continue to secure an income so ensuring the continuance of the project
· To find suitable other situations / facilities / coaches for any candidate who may achieve a standard of excellence perceived by the mentors and trustees to warrant more than what can be offered by this Club.
I will be most grateful if you would consider our appeal as a community project to help with providing an opportunity for the upliftment of the youth by exposing them to the advantages of sport in life as opposed to the use of drugs.
Yours Sincerely
Hannes Uys
Sport Development Trust Chairman
