. Location & Access 1. Aim
. Local Weather Report It is the aim of the Richards Bay Country Club (RBCC) to create a Sports Development Trust Fund (SDTF) in order to equalise opportunities for disadvantaged youth by sponsoring them in sports as offered by the Club and in other sports that may be determined by future needs as recognised by community leaders and as approved by the RBCC’s Executive Committee.

  • Set up development monitoring programmes
  • Integrate persons taking part in the programmes into the membership of RBCC
  • Minimise the transition into a non racial society through sport
  • Developing the talents of interested persons
  • Raise, invest and control the use of funds for the programme as approved by the Club’s Executive Committee (EXCO)
  • Conduct an unbiased selection of individuals who prove themselves interested in particular sports

3. Jurisdiction
. Club Section RBCC’s constitution shall apply. The SDTF shall operate within the boundaries of the Greater Richards Bay and in other areas as decided from time to time by the Trustees. All activities shall be centred at RBCC and shall be sanctioned in advance by the Club Committee for the specific sport.

4. Membership and Affiliation
. Venue hire Participants selected shall be those who in the opinion of the Trustees who may in due course qualify for membership of RBCC.

The application of participants who apply for membership shall be dealt with in the same manner as other prospective Club Members.

Each participant shall be supported by at least one mentor who will be required to spend reasonable amount of time with the participant as coach and advisor. The mentor shall be a full member of RBCC for the sport. Mentoring and coaching shall in essence be on voluntary basis but professional coaching may be approved by the SDTF committee from time to time in special circumstances.

The age limits for participants shall be between 8 and 18 years unless special approval is given by the Trustees.

Participants shall have freedom of association and shall not be restricted from playing sport at any level.

.   5. Registration
.   Any participant may apply to join any of the RBCC sport sections with the provision that there shall be one mentor for each sport for which the applicant is approved.

Further registration at club, provincial or national level shall not be restricted.

RBCC shall be used as the home club.

.   6. Conduct
.   All participants shall abide by the RBCC dress code and shall adhere to its code conduct.

.   7. Finance
.   7.1
.   Funds shall be derived from sponsorships, subsidies, donations and other sources as approved by EXCO. Funds will be raised through personal intervention of individuals after approval by EXCO and the Trustees that such course of action shall be pursued. Approval or rejection shall be promptly given.

.   7.2
.   All monies received shall be receipted and deposited into an interest bearing bank account as approved by EXCO as soon as possible but within 3 (three) working days of receipt.
The Trustees shall prepare a budget which shall be approved by EXCO. The Trustees may make payment from the funds for items provided in the budget, providing that no payment shall be made in excess of the budgeted account, unless approved by the Chairman of RBCC. All payments by cheque or from petty cash shall be administered through the club offices according to the rules of RBCC.

.   7.3
.   The financial year will be the same as that of RBCC.

.   8. Trustees
.   8.1 The Trustees shall consist of:

  • A chairperson nominated by EXCO
  • 4 (Four) members of RBCC in good standing, nominated by EXCO
  • 4 (Four) members of the community as proposed by the Chairperson and approved by EXCO
  • 2 (Two) co-opted members from organisations who make substantial donations to the Trust Fund and as approved by EXCO.

.   8.2 Powers of the Trustees
.   The powers of the Trustees shall be:-

  • To decide on all matters pertaining to meeting the objectives as set out above
  • To maintain and control the running of the development fund within approved budgets
  • To decide on the plans and strategies that will be used to operate and develop the programme
  • To recommend the cessation of the fund should this be necessary.
